CENTRO DE POSTGRADO EN COVILHA

Con una arbolada como telón de fondo y un paisaje aterrazado espectacular, el edificio emerge flotando como una pieza escultórica.

Su funcionamiento es sencillo: cuatro bloques aparentemente opacos contienen los diferentes usos: biblioteca, administración, aulas y despachos. Éstos están unidos por un nuevo “muro construido”(que continúa visualmente con los muros aterrazados existentes), espacios abiertos que esponjan el edificio, y crean grandes patios que aportan luz. Éstos elementos de circulación se conciben como lugares de relación, no sólo de conexión.

En su parte inferior, estos bloques generan un espacio totalmente abierto perforado por patios, en el que se colocan los usos más sociales del edificio.

Las aulas se orientan al norte, para dotarlas de la mejor luz posible, y una doble piel de latón microperforado protege todo el edificio de la luz directa.

 

Constructivamente, se trata de un edificio muy sistematizado, en el que  todo responde a una retícula de 60cm.

With a wooded backdrop and a spectacular terraced landscape, the building emerges floating like a sculptural piece in the woodland.

​

Its scheme is simple: four apparently opaque blocks contain the different uses: library, administration, classrooms and teachers offices. These are linked by a new “built wall” (which continues visually the existing terraced walls), an open space that sponges the building, and creates large patios that bring light. These circulation elements are conceived as places of relationship, not just linking areas.

​

In the lower part, these blocks generate a totally open space perforated by patios, in which are placed the most social uses of the building.

The classrooms are oriented to the north, in order to give them the best light situation, and a double skin made of micro-perforated brass protects the whole building from directlight.

Constructively, it is a very systematized building, in which everything responds to a grid of 60cm.
